  2. Call your representatives' offices.
    Use these talking points (.pdf) to help you when you talk with your representatives or their legislative staff members.
  3. Schedule a meeting with your U.S. House member or senators.
    A personal visit with your representatives is the best way to deliver your viewpoint, even if that visit is with a legislative staff member. You can arrange a visit either in the district office or in Washington…refer to this fact sheet (.pdf) to help you when you talk with your representatives or their legislative staff members.
  4. Write an Op-Ed article in your local newspaper.
    Download this sample op-ed letter that can be used by anyone interested in submitting an opinion-editorial to their local newspaper. We suggest that you modify this template to include a few details specific to your company, facility and state.
  5. Invite your members of Congress to take a tour of your facility.
    A tour of your facility is an excellent opportunity for you to build a strong relationship with your Representative or Senators. Your representatives and their staff members will appreciate the good product you make and the good work you do. They'll be much more likely to keep you in mind in the future and to understand how pending legislation or regulations might affect your company.
