Program Schedule

12:00 PM     Welcome Address by David Bergman, Vice President (International Relations), IPC

12:10 PM     Presentation on “Semiconductor Chip Industry” by Ms Cheah Soo Lan, IPC Certified Instructor

12:50 PM    Q&A

Industry Importance:

A semiconductor chip is an electric circuit with many components such as transistors and wiring formed on a semiconductor wafer. An electronic device comprising numerous these components is called integrated circuit (IC). Success in the semiconductor industry depends on creating smaller, faster, and cheaper products. The benefit of being tiny is that more power can be placed on the same chip.

Semiconductors are making headlines after COVID 19. Demand for chips and devices are expected to grow in coming years. Thanks to the growth of artificial intelligence, electric vehicles, digitalization and other innovations. The global market for semiconductors could reach more than $1 trillion by 2030.

Semiconductor Workforce Development:

A growing, globally competitive semiconductor industry requires a skilled workforce including well-trained engineers & technicians. To ensure the success of new semiconductor manufacturing projects and investments, there is need to expand high-quality workforce training programs. To capitalize on the opportunities of the global investments in semiconductors, we must ensure that the skills developed through workforce programs align with industry’s needs.

IPC Initiative:

IPC has developed new course on Technical Overview of the Semiconductor Chip Industry”. Dive into the dynamic world of semiconductor chips with IPC designed course, crafted for professionals who aim to master the industry's intricacies. From concept to creation, explore each stage of the semiconductor lifecycle — design, manufacturing, assembly, and testing.

The Webinar On November 6 will highlight - What to expect from the course –
“Technical overview of the Semiconductor Chip Industry”
