The European Union’s Circular Economy Action Plan
The European Commission (EC) defines a circular economy as one that “aims to maintain the value of products, materials and resources for as long as possible by returning them into the product cycle at the end of their use, while minimizing the generation of waste.”
In March 2020, the European Commission adopted its Circular Economy Action Plan, with initiatives affecting the entire life cycle of products, from design to manufacturing to consumption.
The Sustainable Products Initiative and the Chemicals Strategy for Sustainability are two initiatives within the Circular Economy Action Plan. IPC is monitoring these initiatives and engaging in public stakeholder activities on behalf of the electronics industry. Learn more here.
