Supply Chain Due Diligence

  • IPC supports public and private sector efforts to protect the environment, human health, and human rights around the world. IPC and its members have long been advocates for responsible business conduct throughout industry supply chains.
  • For example, IPC’s Conflict Minerals Data Exchange Standard – developed together with RMI and JEITA -- facilitates and improves data transfers related to due diligence for responsible mineral sourcing along the entire supply chain.
  • At the same time, requirements and solutions put forward must be balanced and workable for all companies concerned. Emerging legislation and policies must provide clarity for operators, avoid a patchwork of different national rules and approaches, and not place European manufacturers at a competitive disadvantage.

BACKGROUND

The EU has an evolving framework of policies and legislation governing sustainable corporate governance and responsible business conduct throughout supply chains.

This spans a range of activities from the EU’s regulation on conflict minerals to emerging legislation on supply chain due diligence and the reporting environment on Environmental, Social and Governance issues (ESG) through the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD).

IPC is engaged in this evolving landscape on behalf of its electronics manufacturing members.
